Effects of PS (Pharbitidis Semen) on Anti-inflamatory and Anti-febrile Activities in Arthritic Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective: This study was designed to check the effects of PS(Pharbitidis semen) on anti-inflammatory effect and anti-febrile effect in carrageenan-induced arthritic rats.
Methods and Materials:
1. PS(Pharbitidis semen) was orally administered to carrageenan-induced arthritic rats and then the rate of increse of paw edema, CRP, ESR, WBC and NO in urine were checked.
2. PS(Pharbitidis semen) was orally administered to rats with sample group and then recto-temperature was checked.
Results:
1. In the sample group, the rate of increase of paw edema was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group.
2. In the sample group, CRP was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group.
3. In the sample group, ESR was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group.
4. In the sample group, WBC was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group.
5. In the sample group, recto-temperature was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group.
Conclusions: These results suggest that PS(Pharbitidis semen) have curative effects on anti-inflammatory effect carrageenan-induced arthritis and anti-febrile effect in rats. We need to study its mechanism further.
